Interventional radiologists are physicians who treat diseases non-operatively by using X-ray imaging to guide small catheters to the area in need of treatment. Many of these procedures have replaced traditional surgery since they are safer and may be more cost-effective.
These procedures may treat problems in the arteries, kidneys, liver and other internal organs that might otherwise be treated by traditional surgery.
